About Us
The 49th Medical Group at Holloman Air Force Base aims to provide, or arrange for "Trusted Care" for approximately 14,500 DoD beneficiaries living in southern rural New Mexico.
The active duty and civilian medical professionals assigned to the 49th Medical Group follow the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) concept, where medical care is provided by a Primary Care Manager alongside a dedicated team of support staff who manage and monitor patient-centered, comprehensive health care provided in or out of the clinic.
Our medical group is comprised of three squadrons who work in unison to provide superior care to our enrolled beneficiaries:
The 49th Aerospace Medicine Squadron (AMDS) provides direct medical support to operational forces by optimizing human performance and health through the highest quality clinical care, surveillance, identification, and mitigation of hazards. The five diverse and operationally centric flights within the squadron work cohesively to ensure that all of Team Holloman AFB's personnel are medically fit and operationally ready to fulfill all aspects of the wing's mission. These flights include Flight Medicine, Public Health, Bioenvironmental Engineering, Dental, and Human Performance Enhancement with a combined strength of 72 assigned personnel. Available services include: Dental Services, Optometry, Flight Physicals, Aerospace Physiology, Health Promotions, Travel Medicine, Dietician Counseling, Separation History and Physical Examination (SHPE), and Deployment Medicine.
The 49th Medical Support Squadron (MDSS) supports healthcare delivery by managing a group budget of 10 million dollars a year and manpower programs for more than 272 staff members. The managed care program supports an enrollment population of 11,000 beneficiaries amounting to over 105,000 clinical and ancillary encounters each year. The squadron consists of seven flights and the group's commander's support staff. The squadron provides personnel and administration, resource management, TRICARE Operations and Patient Administration, medical readiness, information management, pharmacy, radiology, laboratory and logistics which includes medical equipment repair and facility management.
The 49th Medical Operations Squadron (MDOS) delivers comprehensive primary care and limited referral and space available subspecialty care to TRICARE-enrolled patients at the medical group. The squadron is comprised of three flights: Medical Services, Mental Health and Primary Care. They have a combined strength of 96 assigned personnel. Available services include: Allergy & Immunizations, Family Advocacy, Substance Abuse Counseling, Mental Health, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Physical Therapy, Ambulance Response, Women's Health and Pediatrics. These clinics average more than 8,750 patient visits per month totaling approximately 105,000 patient encounters per year.
We hope you will choose the 49th Medical Group as your medical home - A great place to get care...a great place to give care!
