Mental Health
Everyone reacts to stress and traumatic experiences differently. While some have reactions that can be seen as normal responses to life events, others may experience signs or symptoms of more serious conditions.
Mental health and substance use conditions can affect anyone;
YOU ARE NOT ALONE. The Military Health System has many resources available to help those who need it.
If you or someone you know needs support now, call or text 988 or chat at
988Lifeline.org. 988 connects you with a trained crisis counselor who can help.
49th Medical Group’s Mental Health Services
Our facility currently offers the following mental health and substance abuse services to our active duty service members. Our dependent and civilian beneficiaries are encouraged to work with their PCMs and other health care teams to request referrals to the local community if services are requested:
- Specialty Behavioral Health services (psychological testing, examinations, deployment readiness, psychotherapy, etc.)
- Outpatient Behavioral Health counseling (individual and group)
- Addiction counseling and education
- Psychoeducation on a wide array of topics (individual and group)
We openly advocate for our patients to have autonomy in their health care journey! It’s important to remember that our medical group, to include the Mental Health Flight, works closely with community counseling services and other mission partners in expanding credible resources for our beneficiaries to have access to health care. As clinically appropriate, we can connect members with these agencies to receive the most appropriate resources, specifically when not currently meeting the need for specialty Behavioral Health services found at the 49th Medical Group’s Specialty Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
We continuously engage with local command teams, first sergeants, the Military and Family Readiness Center, Military and Family Life Counselors, the wing chaplains and Religious Affairs Team, and many other local agencies to ensure we are capturing trends and enabling a base-wide approach to administering support.
Please ask your local leadership, key spouses, and other agencies how to access additional services!
